Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
I’ve been pondering on what makes me special and the first thing I thought of was that I had been born with the umbilical cord wrapped around my neck. My parents told me that my skin was somewhat of the color purple and that the doctors had to slap me before I woke up and cried. The way I was delivered sets me apart from a lot but it doesn’t instantaneously make me special: there are so many others who were born in a similar manner. I think that what actually makes me special is my outlook in life, the people in my life, how I’ve affected their lives, and how I spend each day of my life. I do my best to be optimistic in all things but I try, as much as possible, not to expect anything from anyone in order to keep myself from being disappointed because I find that I’m already rather lonely. I value each person that I’ve encountered, even those whose names have escaped my memory, because somehow they’ve played a part in who and where I am today. Each day, I try to live by a quote from Plato which says: “Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.”
